The Miller's Tomb

Grahame Stovold ©

The Miller's Tomb, on Highdown Hill, to the west of Worthing. The miller was John Oliver, an eccentric who died at the age of 84 in 1793. He built his own tomb some thirty or more years earlier, and some accounts suggest that he stored smuggled contraband in it before it was finally used for its intended purpose.
